It could even be argued that this makes Spotify a podcast platform more than a music platform. But I can't give money to a service that treats real artists like Young and Mitchell like this. Honestly? I sort of miss it, as I'm able to compile playlists that I can easily share, and it doesn't get confused with my existing music library (see below). I paid for Spotify for a decade, until last year when it became apparent that they valued highly-paid podcasters spouting misinformation more than they did musicians like Neil Young or Joni Mitchell - both of whom pulled nearly all of their music from the platform. They are getting closer but still aren’t there for me fully and it’s been a slow process waiting for them to improve. I like the sound quality of Qobuz but would like certain features from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Pandora for starters then I might not be as frustrated with all of them. Make it customizable so everyone from the most eccentric to the most simpleton could use it in any way they desired. It’s too bad none of them have figured out to take the best features of each and make them work in the best way then we would really only need one service that everyone could use. All of this is in flux as there is constant competition between all the services especially Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music in the last few months with recent software updates that included new features. Spotify is still the most well known and does have quite the content within its library for that reason. Qobuz offers the best sound quality but is lacking in features unless you use it with Roon but that costs extra of course. You really need to trial and research more about each service to see what you can ultimately work with as certain services have dealbreakers for certain individuals depending on how they use each service. That is the one huge thing however the provenance/quality of that unavailable music is all over the map as you don’t know what the source is from. The one great thing with YouTube Music is content as far as having access to all the music that is available on regular YouTube that is not currently available on the other streaming services. You can upload your own files to all three but playback of those files for all three services currently would be lossy and how they are managed may be different within each service. ![]() ![]() YouTube Music has certain limits that are lower than Apple Music and Spotify within the number of songs a playlist can contain and the amount of liked albums from what I understand. While there are similarities there are differences. The main differences between the three really boil down to one’s individual preferences with the UI and feature sets of each.
